Abe Zubarev is a Philadelphia and Brooklyn based sculptor and mixed media artist, educator, writer, and licensed clinical therapist. Zubarev’s work focuses on mental health. He creates 3-dimensional sculptures primarily with found objects, assemblage, and altered books. He has also worked in collage and video installation. His works have been shown locally in group shows and he has presented at national conferences as well as lecturing at numerous universities. Zubarev holds degrees from Brooklyn College CUNY, Cornell, Harvard, and Columbia Universities. He has taught fine arts and art history as faculty at Moore College of Art & Design, Penn State Abington, and the University of the Arts. He currently teaches graduate courses in Art Therapy and Counseling Psychology at Holy Family University. Zubarev is the Director of Counseling at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. In 2020, he plans to complete his MFA in Studio Art and register as an art therapist.
